Football Recap: Mascoutah Comes Up Short on the Road Against Belleville West + How To Watch

Mascoutah had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They received a blow on Friday as they fell 40-21 to the Belleville West Maroons. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 34-21 to the Maroons when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Mascoutah still got an impressive performance from Sean Murphy, who rushed for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Murphy's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 112 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jack Hilgendorf was another key player, throwing for 187 yards and one TD.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mascoutah will take on Sacred Heart-Griffin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Belleville West, they will square off against Fort Zumwalt West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
