Basketball Recap: Springfield Drops Highest Score of Season Against Jacksonville + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Springfield). They enjoyed a cozy 80-65 victory over the Jacksonville Crimsons on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Senators have beaten the Crimsons on their court since February 14, 2020.

Chayse Bazemore was Springfield's leading scorer, having posted two points. Bazemore also led the team in assists with two.

Loss or not, Jacksonville got some senior leadership from Troy Defrates and Latrell Hemphill. Defrates almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards, while Hemphill shot 70% from the field on his way to 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Defrates has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Jackson, who posted three points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

The win was the third in a row for Springfield, bringing their record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points over those games. As for Jacksonville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
