Football Game Preview: Clinton Arrows vs. Murrah Mustangs

Clinton is a perfect 7-0 against Murrah since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Arrows will venture away from home to face off against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. Neither Clinton nor Murrah posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Clinton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Petal, who was ranked ninth at the time (Clinton was ranked 21st). The matchup between the Arrows and the Panthers didn't end well, with the Arrows falling 20-3. The contest was a 3-3 toss-up at halftime, but the Arrows couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Murrah fell victim to Lanier and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Bulldogs, falling 44-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Mustangs haven't been shut out since back in August.

Murrah's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Clinton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Clinton against Murrah in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, as the squad secured a 63-18 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Mustangs' Broderick Gholar Jr., who rushed for 194 yards while picking up 9.7 yards per carry.
