Baseball Game Preview: Flanagan Falcons vs. Braddock Bulldogs

The Flanagan Falcons will challenge the Braddock Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Flanagan: 3.4, Braddock: 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Flanagan turned things around against Westminster Academy on Monday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Lions a 4-0 shutout.

Hayden Welsh tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched. Flanagan is 2-1 when Welsh allowsone or fewer hits, but 2-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Daniel Chavez and Caden Corzo did most of the damage at the plate: Chavez went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Corzo scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Braddock waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Cobras.

Braddock also got a great performance from Alvaro Perez as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, Perez is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Michael Sanchez was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run. Sebastian Llamozas was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Braddock lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Braddock's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Flanagan, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
