Football Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After soaring to 47 points the game before, Monticello was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They had to suffer through a 56-7 loss at the hands of the Dolores Bears. The Buckaroo were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Dolores' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Rantz, who rushed for 209 yards and three scores on only seven carries, and also picked up 72 receiving yards and one touchdown. Rantz's longest reception was for an impressive 66 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Darren Hicks helped out on the ground, rushing for 100 yards and three rushing touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, Monticello fell to 2-1. As for Dolores, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Monticello wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 44-37 defeat against Altamont on the 12th. As for Dolores, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 28-0 victory against Rangely on the 12th.
