Baseball Game Preview: Katella Knights vs. Valencia Tigers

The Katella Knights will face off against the Valencia Tigers at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Katella has four straight wins, Valencia has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Katella proved they can win big on Monday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Barlow 8-7.

Hector Perez was a standout: he scored a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Prado, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Valencia didn't have quite enough to beat Garden Grove on Friday and fell 4-3.

Katella's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Valencia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Katella came out on top in a nail-biter against Valencia in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Will Katella repeat their success, or does Valencia has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
