Football Preview: Pearland Oilers vs. Manvel Mavericks        
        
		
             The Pearland Oilers will head out on the road to  face off against  the Manvel Mavericks  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Pearland is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
 If Pearland beats Manvel with 59  points on Friday, it's going to be the  squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two  games with that exact score. Pearland claimed a resounding  59-0 victory over Alvin at home. Given the Oilers' advantage  in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings  (they are ranked 161st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 620th), the result  on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
  Jake Westmoreland went supernova for Pearland, rushing for 52 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries, while also throwing for 143 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes. The dominant performance gave  Westmoreland a new career-high in  rushing yards.  Jordan Hernandez also helped out with an impressive 89  receiving yards.
 Pearland wouldn't let Alvin keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as  Jaison Law,  Charles Gooden, Iii,  and  Gooden, Iii picked up one apiece. With that strong performance,  Gooden, Iii is now averaging an impressive 5.2  total tackles per game.
 Meanwhile, Manvel lost  43-20 to Shadow Creek on Friday. The Mavericks haven't had much luck with the Sharks recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
 Manvel's  loss came about despite a quality game from  Cam Renfro, who threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown.
 Pearland's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Manvel, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
 Pearland took a serious blow against Manvel  when the teams last played  back in September of 2017, falling  45-7. Thankfully for Pearland,  Jalen Preston (who rushed for 112 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
