Baseball Game Preview: Malcolm Clippers vs. Platteview Trojans

Malcolm is a perfect 5-0 against Platteview since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Malcolm will face off against Platteview at 4:30 p.m. Platteview took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Malcolm, who comes in off a win.

Platteview will be up against a hot Malcolm squad: the team just extended their winning streak to 11. Everything went Malcolm's way against Crete on Monday as Malcolm made off with a 14-1 win.

Chase Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brixon Meyer, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Cole Tiedeman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Malcolm always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crete only posted an OBP of .348.

Meanwhile, Platteview didn't have quite enough to beat Waverly on Monday and fell 3-2. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Platteview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Malcolm, their record is now 2-0.

Everything went Malcolm's way against Platteview in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Malcolm made off with an 11-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Malcolm since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
