Softball Game Preview: McKenzie Rebels vs. Houston County Fighting Irish

For the first time this season, McKenzie will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Friday. They will head out to challenge the Houston County Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. Houston County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on McKenzie, who comes in off a win.

While Rebels fans will have to keep waiting for their squad to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Monday's season opener. They put the hurt on Peabody with a sharp 21-12 win on Monday.

Meanwhile, Houston County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of McEwen.

Brilee Anderson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on five hits.

McKenzie came out on top in a nail-biter against Houston County when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 4-2. Will McKenzie repeat their success, or does Houston County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
