Basketball Recap: Patuxent Takes a Loss

Patuxent lost against Northern back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Patuxent Panthers were beaten by the Northern Patriots 55-26. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Patriots are ranked 104th).

Alyassa Lane went supernova for Northern, going 9-for-18 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight steals and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Lane a new career-high in blocks (two). Sydney Prince was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Patuxent has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season. Northern's victory bumped their record up to 14-10.

Coming up, Patuxent will square off against McDonough at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Patuxent is facing McDonough at the right time seeing as McDonough is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Northern does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
