Basketball Recap: New Town Takes a Loss

New Town suffered their biggest defeat since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They were outmatched by the Pikesville Panthers and fell 63-34. New Town has struggled against Pikesville recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Pikesville found their leader in sophomore Maya Chase, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chase has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Brooks, who went 7 of 9 en route to 15 points and four steals.

New Town's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 12-7. As for Pikesville, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-1.

Coming up, New Town will square off against Milford Mill Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pikesville, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Point at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
