Lucas Collins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braden Aguirre, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Jeremy Haynes, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last match, Norwell made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bellmont on Monday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Braves. Considering the Knights have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Drew Graft, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Norwell: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Cotton, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Norwell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
The victory (which was Norwell's fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their record now sits at 23-8.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger took their victory against Norwell when the teams last played back in June of 2022 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Saints repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
