Recap: Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs vs. Seymour Owls
The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs came tearing into Thursday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by Seymour at home to the tune of 66-36. Franklin Community has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Franklin Community's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scarlett Kimbrell led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Kimbrell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Erica Buening, who scored 16 points.
Franklin Community's win was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. As for Seymour, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Community will take on Whiteland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Whiteland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 148th, while Franklin Community is ranked fifth). As for Seymour, they will be playing at home against Charlestown at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlestown will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
