Baseball Recap: Liberty Find Success

Liberty proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Nazareth Area Blue Eagles 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Hurricanes: when they faced off against the Blue Eagles back in April, they had to take a 7-0 defeat.

Liberty got a great performance from Michael Mariano Jr. as he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Mariano Jr. has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liberty saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Frey, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Nazareth Area, the loss snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 13-5 record.

Coming up, Liberty will take on Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nazareth Area, they will square off against Pocono Mountain East at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
