Taconic Hills and Catskill are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Titans will challenge the Cats at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Taconic Hills' pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Greenville as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win was nothing new for the Titans as they're now sitting on five straight.

Jacob Alvarez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Francis Conners-Schmid, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Catskill). They were the clear victors by a 28-2 margin over Germantown on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Riley Street was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He has become a key player for Catskill: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Catskill got a massive performance out of John McKenna, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5. McKenna is becoming a predictor of the Cats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Demetrio Morales was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs.

Catskill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .635. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Catskill has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Taconic Hills, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Taconic Hills has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Catskill struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Everything went Taconic Hills' way against Catskill in their previous meeting back in April, as Taconic Hills made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
