Baseball Recap: Jonesville Triumphs

Jonesville took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Napoleon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Comets won by a run and slipped past the Pirates 5-4. This was payback for the Comets, who suffered a 10-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Drew Bradley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Jonesville's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Harper Griffiths was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

Jonesville now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Napoleon, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coming up, Jonesville will face off against Leslie at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blackhawks will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Comets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Napoleon, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vandercook Lake at 4:00 p.m. The Jayhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of.
