Football Recap: Lackawanna Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Lackawanna came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 22-15 win over the Olean Huskies. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Steelers also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Despite the loss, Olean still got an impressive performance from Joe Mest, who rushed for 30 yards and two scores, and also threw for 129 yards on 12 of 30 attempts.

Lackawanna's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Olean, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Lackawanna will be playing at home against Pioneer at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Steelers 10.5, the Panthers 11.4) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Olean, they will head out on the road to face off against Williamsville South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Billies' defense has only allowed 14.2 points per game this season, so the Huskies' offense will have their work cut out for them.
