Basketball Recap: Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners vs. Legacy Longhorns
The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners struggled with assists on Friday (the Legacy Longhorns had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Southeast Career Tech was beaten by the Longhorns 58-23. Southeast Career Tech has not had much luck with the Longhorns recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Southeast Career Tech's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Trystan Bazile, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds, and Bianca Vazquez who scored ten points.
Legacy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alabama Nieves led the charge by scoring 20 points along with two steals. Nieves is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaleese Mckenzie, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Southeast Career Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Legacy, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-9.
Southeast Career Tech will be playing in front of their home fans against the Desert Shields at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nevada (Cheyenne is ranked 77th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 75th). As for Legacy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
