Basketball Game Preview: Junction City Bluejays vs. Topeka Trojans

The Junction City Bluejays will head out on the road to challenge the Topeka Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Junction City has six straight wins, Topeka has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Junction City didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Manhattan, but they still walked away with a 66-62 victory. Given the Bluejays' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Indians are ranked 177th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Topeka ended up a good deal behind Hayden on Tuesday and lost 65-50.

Junction City's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Topeka, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Junction City came out on top in a nail-biter against Topeka in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, sneaking past 67-64. Does Junction City have another victory up their sleeve, or will Topeka turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
