Recap: Mesa Ridge Grizzlies vs. Canon City Tigers

The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies's 16-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 46-27 bruising from Canon City on Wednesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Mesa Ridge has scored all season.

Bray Pelt was Mesa Ridge's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Pelt also led the team in rebounds with seven.

Canon City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alexi Till out in front who scored eight points along with eight steals. Till hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Kristyn Barnes, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.

Mesa Ridge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Canon City, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mesa Ridge will challenge Palmer Ridge at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Palmer Ridge is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Canon City, they will head out on the road to challenge Widefield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Widefield will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
