Softball Game Preview: Southern Huntingdon County Rockets vs. Williamsburg Blue Pirates

The Southern Huntingdon County Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the Williamsburg Blue Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Southern Huntingdon County has five straight wins, Williamsburg has 20 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Southern Huntingdon County was able to grind out a solid victory over Huntingdon, taking the game 5-2.

Fannett Metal hit Williamsburg with a nine-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Pirates lost 15-0 to Fannett Metal.

Southern Huntingdon County's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Williamsburg, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Everything went Southern Huntingdon County's way against Williamsburg when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Southern Huntingdon County made off with a 14-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rockets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
