The Boise Brave will challenge the Middleton Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Boise: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Middleton has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
Having struggled with five losses in a row, Boise turned things around against Meridian on Thursday. They blew past the Warriors 15-2. With that win, the Brave brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Aidric Bird looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

At the plate, Brody Newbery was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Boise's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Michael Rodriguez, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base.
Boise always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Middleton got the win against Timberline on Thursday by a conclusive 9-2. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Beau Ramsey made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grady Churchfield, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jedsen Aldrich was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Boise's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 8-7. As for Middleton, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
