Softball Recap: Polk County Slammers vs. Gering Bulldogs

Polk County extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 4-17. They lost 14-5 to the Gering Bulldogs. The Slammers were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Shyenne Krol was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mady Berggren, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Gering, their record now sits at 17-10. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Gering's side, they got a massive performance out of Avah Hessler, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. What's more, Hessler posted two runs, the most she's had over her last seven contests. Another player making a difference was Jaleigh Bohac, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Polk County has already played their next game, an 11-3 defeat against Kearney Catholic on the 27th. As for Gering, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-0 victory against Adams Central on the 27th.
