Baseball Recap: Wheelersburg Find Success

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Wheelersburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Waverly Tigers 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won eight in a row.

Jack Picklesimer spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Wheelersburg's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Heimbach, who went 3-for-5 with one run and one double. Those three hits gave Heimbach a new career-high.

Wheelersburg's record is now 16-6. As for Waverly, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-11.

Wheelersburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Waverly, they will face off against Marietta at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Waverly is facing Marietta at the right time seeing as Marietta is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
