Baseball Recap: Miami Comes Up Short

Miami lost against Palmetto back in February of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Stingarees fell 9-4 to the Panthers. The Stingarees' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Jhuseph Mejias put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Mejias wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Darvin Linarte, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another was Jason Cruz-Carabali, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Miami's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Palmetto, their victory bumped their record up to 6-16.

Coming up, Miami will be playing in front of their home fans against Reagan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Stingarees are facing the Bison at the right time seeing as the Bison are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Palmetto, they will head out to take on TERRA Environmental at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
