Baseball Game Preview: Triton Trojans vs. Pioneer Panthers

Triton is 1-9 against Pioneer since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Trojans will host the Panthers at 10:00 a.m. One thing working in Triton's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.

Triton had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Elkhart Christian Academy on Thursday. The Trojans were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Eagles. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Ryder Goodman was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Pioneer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 10-2 to Rochester. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Noah Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Pioneer now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Triton, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Triton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Pioneer struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Triton couldn't quite get it done against Pioneer in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
