Football Recap: Makena Cook Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Dos Pueblos

Orange Lutheran is still undefeated this season after their matchup against Dos Pueblos on Saturday, but Dos Pueblos came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Lancers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Chargers, sneaking past 23-21.

Orange Lutheran's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makena Cook, who threw for 362 yards and three TDs while completing 83.7% of her passes. Cook is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games she's played. A healthy portion of Cook's aerial production (125 yards to be exact) went to Happy Dubois, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Orange Lutheran's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Dos Pueblos, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.

Coming up, Orange Lutheran will venture away from home to square off against Rosary Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lancers are facing the Royals at the right time seeing as the Royals are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Dos Pueblos, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against St. Bonaventure at 4:00 p.m.
