Basketball Recap: Edgewood Cougars vs. Middletown Middies

It was a good run, but the Edgewood Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 60-43 bruising from Middletown. Edgewood was down 47-24 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Loss or not, Edgewood got some senior leadership from Drew Swartzel and Rylie Homan. Swartzel dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Homan. scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Swartzel has scored all season. Maddy Judd was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Edgewood's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Middletown, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-13 record this season.

Edgewood's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Knights at 1:15 p.m. on February 5th. Kings has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Middletown, they will head out on the road to challenge the Aviators at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
