Volleyball Recap: Fremont Starts Season with Win Against Farmington

Fremont took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Farmington Phoenix. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Fremont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-21, 25-21.

Olivia Surrage paced Fremont's offense, picking up 12 kills. Surrage got some help from Brooklyn Smedley and her 27 assists. Surrage was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Farmington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fremont will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Weber at 6:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Farmington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mountain Ridge at 5:00 p.m.
