Preview: Affton Cougars vs. Parkway Central Colts
The Affton Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Parkway Central Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Affton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Thursday.
Affton fought the good fight in their overtime match against McCluer South-Berkeley but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 47-45.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amelia Wilson, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna M daughtry, who scored seven points along with ten steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, after only 23 points in their last matchup, Parkway Central made sure to put some points up on the board against McCluer North on Tuesday. Parkway Central blew past McCluer North, posting a 58-24 win on the road. Given Parkway Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while McCluer North is ranked 494th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Affton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Parkway Central, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
