Football Preview: Millbrook Wildcats vs. Hough Huskies

After each having a week off, the Millbrook Wildcats and the Hough Huskies will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another on the 11th. Both teams are still undefeated after 13 games, but that won't be the case come Thursday.

Millbrook is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 14-7 victory over Hoggard. The 14-point effort marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Millbrook can attribute much of their success to Brilison McCullers, who rushed for 45 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Malachi Gilchrist, who picked up 103 receiving yards. That's the most receiving yards Gilchrist has posted since back in October.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Millbrook proved: they limited Hoggard to a paltry 0.9 yards per carry. While two picked up at least five total tackles, Rashad Streets stood above the rest. He picked up 3.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles (4.5 for loss). Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Millbrook; they were averaging 5.8yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 4.8 per game (which corresponds perfectly with their time in the postseason).

Meanwhile, Hough faced West Charlotte in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Huskies were the clear victors by a 24-0 margin over the Lions. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won nine matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Millbrook better focus on containing Jamarion Morrison and Ethan Royal as the pair were huge in Hough's win. Morrison rushed for 134 yards and one score on only 14 carries, while Royal rushed for 37 yards and one TD.
