Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Esperanza

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Esperanza ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 51-45 victory over the Sunny Hills Lancers. The win was nothing new for the Aztecs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Esperanza's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordan Fermin, who posted 14 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Fermin a new career-high. Jackson Fries was another key player, putting up 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why Sunny Hills lost, don't look at Ze'Brien Watkins. Despite the final result, he went 6 for 10 on his way to 18 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamron Tonga, who scored eight points and eight rebounds.

Esperanza's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. As for Sunny Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Esperanza will head out to take on Brea Olinda at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Esperanza is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season. As for Sunny Hills, they will venture away from home to challenge El Modena at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunny Hills is facing El Modena at the right time seeing as El Modena is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
