Volleyball Recap: Tombstone Comes Up Short

Tombstone lost against Willcox back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Yellow Jackets lost 3-0 to the Cowboys. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Tombstone had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-18, 25-19.

Zoey Zimpelman paced Tombstone's offense, picking up four kills. Zimpelman got some help from Khloe Convertino Shaw and her 11 assists. Zimpelman also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with McKenzy Nicoll, racking up three apiece.

Tombstone's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Willcox, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Tombstone will face off against Valley Union at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Willcox, they have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against St. David on the 16th.
