The Dilley Wolves will take on the Cotulla Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dilley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Dilley and Natalia meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. Dilley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over Natalia.

Jesse Hernadez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Dilley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnny Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Isaiah Lambert was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Cotulla had taken Crystal City down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. Cotulla lost 12-5 to Crystal City.
Cotulla saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Aldaco, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Trevor Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Cotulla has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's still a better percentage than their 2-8-1 record this season. Dilley's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-5.
Cotulla's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dilley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Cotulla, though, as they've only averaged .270. Will they be able to contain Dilley's hitters?
Dilley might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Cotulla when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Dilley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
