Baseball Game Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Palisades Pumas

The Butler Bulldogs will head out to take on the Palisades Pumas at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Butler will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Butler is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Rocky River with a sharp 24-7 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Jackson Clark looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Butler: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 2-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Chase Decurtis was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Bryce Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Butler was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Palisades, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Olympic get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Tuesday. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pumas yet this season.

Lincoln Wise was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Wearing, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

Butler's record now sits at 5-7. As for Palisades, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7.
