Softball Game Preview: Spencer County Bears vs. Shelby County Rockets

The Spencer County Bears will venture away from home to take on the Shelby County Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spencer County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.

While Spencer County's win against Christian Academy-Louisville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bears skirted past the Centurions 7-6.

Addyson Pawul tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joslyn Waldridge was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Hunt, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shelby County). They put the hurt on Owen County with a sharp 19-6 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Rockets with their most commanding win of the season.

Spencer County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Shelby County, their record is now 5-12.

Spencer County took their win against Shelby County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
