Basketball Recap: Venice Comes Up Short

Venice suffered their biggest loss since December 20, 2024 on Monday. They lost 66-40 to the Riverview Sarasota Rams. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Riverview Sarasota's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rhys Gamble, who went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Cole Coggin, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points along with five assists and five boards.

Venice's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Riverview Sarasota, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Venice has already played their next match (against Lemon Bay), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Riverview Sarasota will challenge Cardinal Mooney at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Riverview Sarasota knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Cardinal Mooney likes a good challenge.
