Lewisburg has gone 8-2 against Germantown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Patriots will be playing at home against the Mavericks at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lewisburg's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Oxford as they made off with a 14-0 victory. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Lewisburg let Kara Walker and Anna Etter run wild. Walker went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Etter went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lindey Willhite, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Lewisburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Germantown made sure to put some runs up on the board against Florence on Friday. The Mavericks blew past the Eagles 10-0. The Mavericks not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 15-2).
Germantown also got a great performance from Mackenzie Donnell as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Donnell has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Presley Merkich, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maddie Self, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
Germantown is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lewisburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-12.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Lewisburg hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Lewisburg skirted past Germantown 8-7 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will the Patriots repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
