Basketball Recap: Fairfield Falcons vs. Carson Senators
Fairfield saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They took a 70-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carson Senators. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 793rd in California, while the Senators are ranked 37th in Nevada).

When it comes to explaining why Fairfield lost, don't look at Jonah Jackson. Despite the final result, he shot 54% from the field to rack up 21 points. Jackson's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristen Smith, who posted seven points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Carson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaren Thornburg led the charge by going 6-for-11 en route to 16 points and seven boards.
