Baseball Game Preview: Xavier Prep Saints vs. La Quinta Blackhawks

Xavier Prep is 2-8 against La Quinta since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Xavier Prep will be playing at home against La Quinta at 6:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Xavier Prep 2.3, La Quinta 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Things were looking good for Xavier Prep after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jesuit.

Cam Burke and Vanjuan Vladimirov did some serious damage despite the final result: Burke went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI, while Vladimirov scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Vladimirov has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, La Quinta waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Rattlers by a score of 5-1. That's two games straight that the Blackhawks have won by exactly four runs.

Javier Vasquez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. La Quinta is 3-1 when Vasquez posts eight or more strikeouts, but 3-4 otherwise. Vasquez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cash Sutton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. Troy Enoki was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

La Quinta now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Xavier Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
