Basketball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Smoky Hill Buffaloes

The Fossil Ridge SaberCats will face off against the Smoky Hill Buffaloes at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Fossil Ridge is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Liberty: they outscored them in every quarter. The SaberCats enjoyed a cozy 88-73 win over the Lancers on Saturday.

Drake Walker had a dynamite game, shooting 67% from beyond the arc on his way to 36 points and eight rebounds. Those eight boards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Gray, who posted 15 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Smoky Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 96-67 loss at the hands of Kent Denver. The Buffaloes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-32.

Fossil Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Smoky Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Fossil Ridge took a serious blow against Smoky Hill in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, falling 105-76. Can the SaberCats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
