North Pontotoc win going away against Byhalia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Albany, The North Pontotoc Vikings were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Byhalia with a sharp 35-12 win. The result was nothing new for North Pontotoc, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Drew Winfun had a dynamite game for North Pontotoc, rushing for 173 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Donovan Winfun also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.

Byhalia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Franklin, who rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. Lance Williams also helped out as he racked up 122 rushing yards.

North Pontotoc is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Byhalia, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Pontotoc will take on Senatobia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Senatobia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than North Pontotoc in Mississippi (Senatobia is ranked 40th, while North Pontotoc is ranked 183rd). As for Byhalia, they will head out on the road to face off against South Pontotoc at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
