Baseball Recap: Gila Bend Comes Up Short

If Gila Bend was riding high fresh off their 20-4 takedown of Ajo last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gila Monsters came up short against the Wickenburg Christian Academy Lion on Wednesday, falling 9-3. The Gila Monsters were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lion earlier this season, when they won 13-7.

Gila Bend saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Fernandez, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Gila Bend's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 7-2-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Gila Bend will take on A+ Charter School at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wickenburg Christian Academy, they will challenge Thunderbird Adventist Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Wickenburg Christian Academy is facing Thunderbird Adventist Academy at the right time seeing as Thunderbird Adventist Academy is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
