Volleyball Recap: Making Waves Academy Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Making Waves Academy proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by three) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Redwood Christian Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Marlins sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Making Waves Academy who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 19-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-11.

Henry Alfaro paced Making Waves Academy's offense, picking up 16 kills. Alfaro got some help from Vicente Palma and his 26 assists. Alfaro was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Making Waves Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Redwood Christian, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Coming up, Making Waves Academy is taking a road trip to take on Contra Costa Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Redwood Christian, they will square off against Head-Royce at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
