Softball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. Perry Pirates

The Chardon Hilltoppers will head out on the road to face off against the Perry Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chardon will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Chardon's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past John F. Kennedy 17-0. The match marked the Hilltoppers' most dominant victory of the season.

Savannah Murray was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenna Banville, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Chardon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Meanwhile, Perry didn't have quite enough to beat North on Tuesday and fell 3-2. The Pirates have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Perry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rosalyn Tharp, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Chardon pushed their record up to 17-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chardon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Chardon's way against Perry in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as Chardon made off with a 14-2 win. Do the Hilltoppers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
