Basketball Recap: Lyric Ersland's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Flathead over Big Sky

Flathead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 70-53 to the Big Sky Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Braves/Bravettes of the 54-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Flathead lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Lyric Ersland, who posted 15 points and five rebounds. The contest was Ersland's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Korbin Eaton was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Flathead's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Big Sky, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Butte the next time they take the court. Flathead will host Butte at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Big Sky will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th.
