Baseball Recap: Williamson Wins Going Away Against Red Creek

Williamson barely beat Red Creek the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Marauders put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 20-7 win on Friday. That looming 20-7 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Marauders yet this season.

Myles Wurtz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Williamson got a massive performance out of Joey VanLare, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave VanLare a new career-high. David DeFisher was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Williamson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Williamson, bringing their record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Red Creek, they dropped their record down to 2-10 with the loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Williamson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-1 defeat against Sodus on the 10th. As for Red Creek, they have also already played their next match, a 1-0 victory against Marion on the 10th.
