Softball Game Preview: Murphy Panthers vs. UMS-Wright Prep Bulldogs

Murphy hasn't had much luck against UMS-Wright Prep recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Murphy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Blount as they made off with a 16-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Meanwhile, UMS-Wright Prep made easy work of Rain on Tuesday and carried off a 16-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Red Raiders: they've now won three in a row.

Emma Trawick was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Emma McGorty was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.

UMS-Wright Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive games.

UMS-Wright Prep pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Murphy, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
