Baseball Recap: Belle Vernon Has No Trouble Against Charleroi

Belle Vernon never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Charleroi Cougars as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won seven matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lucas Judy made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Belle Vernon got a big performance out of Alonzo Wade, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Wade's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Connor Bergman, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Belle Vernon and bumps their season record up to 9-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Charleroi, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Belle Vernon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 defeat against Mt. Pleasant on the 25th. As for Charleroi, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Bethlehem Center on the 24th.
