Soccer Game Preview: Cary-Grove vs. Huntley

The Cary-Grove Trojans will face off against the Huntley Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cary-Grove will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Hampshire on Thursday. The Trojans were the clear victors by a 6-2 margin over the Whip-Purs. With that victory, Cary-Grove brought their scoring average up to 2.5 goals per game.

Their offense was hitting Hampshire from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Malaina Kurth led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Huntley strolled into their game on Thursday with an undefeated record and they left with the same. They never let Crystal Lake South get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Give Huntley's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

Huntley pushed their record up to 12-0-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those seven matchups. As for Cary-Grove, they now have a winning record of 5-4-2.
